Type: Public Building

Completed in 2014

The Berrimah Fire station a new world class fire station for the greater Darwin area. The facility consists of a Fire Station, the Special Operations & Emergency services building, Training Tower, a 60m high telecommunications tower, access roads from Berrimah Road, internal roads, fuel storage, a sewer treatment plant, landscaping and associated services / civil works.

The new fire station is a 24 hour response facility and will provide backup for the existing surrounding fire stations. The buildings have incorporated special and technical response equipment, including Chemical Biological Radiological, Hazmat, Urban Search and Rescue.

The new facilities will provide practical training facilities, commensurate with an operational fire station including training tower, drill ground and potential for future expansion.

Following the design brief the buildings were designed to create a contemporary ‘industrial look’ facility using high quality materials and level of finish. This was done with continuous sharp architectural lines that complimented the use of portal frames, pre-cast concrete walls, architectural recesses and a bright colour palette.
